Arlene Ruth Punke January 24, 1933 - June 15, 2024 BLOOMINGTON - Arlene Ruth Punke, 91, of Bloomington, IL, was called to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Luther Oaks in Bloomington. Arlene was born January 24, 1933, on a farm at rural Eureka, Woodford County, IL, the second child of Lawrence Jakob and Magdalene Hassebrock Woelfle. As a young child Arlene helped around the farm, feeding chickens and gathering eggs, carrying to the house drinking water and cobs for the cook stove. She helped with ironing, canning and enjoyed the daily afternoon trips to the field to take her father an afternoon snack. Arlene was baptized February 19, 1933, and confirmed July 14, 1946, both at St. John's Lutheran Church in Secor by the Rev. John F. Schnack. She began education as the only student at the one-room Meridian Grade School and finished Grade School with two persons in the class.
